Internship Opportunities
YVA is a teaching institution. We pride ourselves on providing the tools to incoming practicum students to become skilled mental health clinicians! We welcome students from all disciplines. Supervison included. We have the unique opportunity to work with all types of clients and as such, your learning experienced will be varied.
Teaching Objectives
Supervision

Weekly 1-hour individual supervision with an AAMFT-approved , LPC/LPCC and LICSW approved supervisors.

Weekly 1-hour student rounds in group consultation to discuss the case conceptualization, diagnosis, and theory application

Additional supervision support as needed
Therapy Application

Shadowing and co-therapy opportunities with opportunities for feedback

Family systems application
-
Learning to complete initial session with the Diagnostic Assessment

Guidance of utilization of DSM-5-TR

Individual, Couples, and Family therapy

Telehealth and In-person sessions
Documentation
-
Focused writing for diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, clinical progress notes, and discharge planning

EHR training
-
Learning to write notes based on the theory being incorporated

Incorporating self-reporting assessments in documentation to improve client outcome
Multi-disciplinary Therapy

Cultural competency incorporation with additional training, discussions, and application

Manualized treatment curriculum for DBT, CBT, TF-CBT
-
Eclectic style treatment from family systems theories, narrative, Brainspotting, Solution-Focused, mindfulness, and psychodynamic
Intern Weekly Commitment
