Andrea Torres Guerra, MA, MHP
Director of Human Resources, Therapist
Every person has their own story shaped by culture, language, family, experiences, and more, making you unique. All of these factors make you the expert in your healing and needs. I take a holistic approach and consider your psychological, physical, spiritual, religious, and social life. I hope to use this to help you feel safe and confident in and outside the therapy room. It is important to me to develop a solid therapeutic relationship with my clients. I have seen how a therapeutic relationship where being challenged, heard, validated, and empowered is valuable. I like to bring humor, curiosity, and transparency into the therapy room.
I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota. Prior to attending my master’s program, I have several experiences in the field including community-based services, an adolescent day treatment center, and outpatient settings. My passion for working with adolescents (13 years and older), adults, couples, and families led me to the Marriage and Family Therapy program. I completed my master's of arts for MFT at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in August of 2022. I am certified in PREPARE/ENRICH for Premarital, pre-commitment, and Marital Counseling; and trained in Trauma-CBT and Brainspotting. I have experience serving in the following communities: LGBTQIA+, BIPOC folks, Spanish-speaking individuals, and Probation. To address the following issues: anxiety, depression, trauma, social anxiety, OCD, relational concern, family conflict, life transition, racial identity, gender identity, and substance use. I offer therapy in Spanish.
I grew up in Minnesota, and in the fall of 2022, I traded the lakes, long winters, and driving for the big city. I currently reside in New York City and provide all of my sessions online via Telehealth. My hobbies include cooking, traveling, hiking, and going to concerts.
I look forward to meeting you, learning about your story, and how you want to write your narrative moving forward!
